TRAU 8083 - Trauma Treatment Modalities Credit Hours: 3
This course provides a comprehensive overview of evidence-based and emerging modalities for treating trauma in individuals and groups. Students will explore a range of therapeutic approaches from traditional talk therapies to body-based and experiential treatments. Key modalities covered include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Somatic Experiencing, Internal Family Systems (IFS), and mindfulness-based interventions. The course emphasizes understanding the theoretical foundations of each modality, assessing their effectiveness, and determining which treatment approaches are best suited to different types of trauma.
Prerequisite: Graduate degree in mental health field. Corequisite: None
