TRAU 8031 - Vicarious Trauma and Therapist Self-Care


Credit Hours: 1

This course focuses on the understanding and management of vicarious trauma, a phenomenon that affects professionals who work with trauma survivors such as counselors, social workers, healthcare providers, and first responders. Students will explore the emotional, psychological, and physical impact of exposure to others’ trauma and learn to recognize the signs of vicarious trauma, compassion fatigue, and burnout.

Prerequisite: Graduate degree in a mental health field.
