CHEM 3012 - Organic Chemistry I Lab Credit Hours: 2
This first semester of the Organic Chemistry lab sequence focuses on training students in the techniques commonly used by synthetic organic chemists, such as distillation, thin-layer and column chromatography, liquid-liquid extraction, recrystallization, polarimetry, gas chromatography, NMR spectroscopy, IR spectroscopy, and UV-visible spectroscopy. Heavy emphasis is placed on keeping a lab notebook, communicating results, and learning to write full scientific reports.
Corequisite: CHEM 3003
