GNSC 2703 - Human Nutrition Credit Hours: 3
This course is an evidence-based introduction to the science of human nutrition, covering the biological and physiological principles of nutrient metabolism, digestion, absorption, and utilization across the lifespan. Students will critically examine the six classes of nutrients, current dietary guidelines and the role of diet in promoting health and preventing chronic diseases. Emphasis is placed on applying scientific knowledge to evaluate dietary adequacy, recognize nutrition misinformation, and understand the unique nutritional needs of diverse populations. This course establishes the foundational nutritional literacy required for nursing and other allied health professions.
