Course Description:
The Trauma Certificate Program at MidAmerica Nazarene University is designed to equip professionals with the knowledge and skills necessary to provide trauma-informed care. This 16-credit program offers a comprehensive approach to understanding trauma, its impact on individuals and communities, and evidence-based interventions that promote healing and resilience. Through a blend of academic coursework, practical application, and spiritual reflection, students will be prepared to address trauma survivors’ emotional, psychological, and spiritual needs.
Students will explore key topics such as trauma theory, somatic experiencing, crisis intervention, and other trauma-informed modules alongside Christian principles of compassion, restoration, and grace. The program emphasizes holistic care, integrating physical, emotional, and spiritual elements to foster deep healing. Graduates will be equipped to apply their learning in diverse settings, including counseling, healthcare, church counseling center, education, and social services.
