The Sports Management degree prepares students for leadership careers across the sport industry, including athletic administration, sport maketing and promotion, athlete and team development, event and facility management, and golf course operations. The curriculum integrates business, leadership, ethics, and applied learning to develop professionals capable of leading sport organizations from both the front office and the locker room. Through specialized tracks, students gain industry-relevant knowledge and practical skills necessary to manage, administer promote, and develop sport programs within diverse professional settings.

Sports Management Program Outcomes:

Upon completion of the departmental course of study, the sports management graduate will be able to:

  1. Develop and demonstrate a personal philosophy that integrates Christian principles with ethical business conduct.
  2. Communicate effectively using appropriate methods and tools.
  3. Demonstrate critical thinking skills and competencies in business content areas.
  4. Effectively use technology to enhance business processes and presentations.
  5. Demonstrate awareness, understanding, and, as appropriate, mastery of management and leadership theories and skills.
  6. Be prepared with the knowledge and skills necessary to enter or advance in a career in the field of business and/or pursue further education.
  7. Understand how to successfully work in business with the flexibility to do a variety of jobs in the sports management area, including organization, administration, budgeting and teaching.

Senior Comprehensive Exams

All Business majors must take the Peregrine exam, a national standardized test, in the Fall semester of their senior year.  All tests must be passed the first time or the specific area(s) of deficiency must be satisfactorily made up before graduation in consultation with the members of the School of Business and Digital Media faculty.

Requirements for the Bachelor of Science in Sports Management


Students complete the general education core requirements and a 39-42 hour sport core. Students then complete a specialized core in one of three tracks.

General Education: 33-39 Hours


Bachelor of Science  

The General Education math requirement is Intermediate Algebra and Engaging with Math and Data. We recommend that sports management students consider additional electives in English, communications, and math.

Tracks: 18-20 Hours


Sports Marketing and Promotion Track (18 Hours)


Athlete and Team Development Track (19-20 Hours)


Choose One of the Following Two:

Electives: 24-32 Hours


Total Hours: 120 Hours
