Admission to the BSN Program
Eligible applicants for this program are those who:
- have AA, AS, BA, BHS, or BS degree in another field from an accredited college or university, OR
- are an LPN or MICT with 60 hours of credit from an accredited college or university, OR
- are HIGHLY motivated with at least 60 hours of credit from an accredited college or university,
- have a program prerequisite GPA of at least 3.0 for ABSN and HBSN or 2.7 for TBSN on a 4.0 grading scale.
All the prerequisite courses do not have to be completed before program application; however, they must be completed, and official transcripts received by MNU’s Admission’s office before the respective start dates of the program. Exceptions may be made for admission to the traditional program.
Students with a previous associate degree (AA or AS) or bachelor’s degree (BA, BHS, or BS) from an accredited college or university are possibly considered to have met additional MidAmerica Nazarene University general education requirements. Students without a previous associate or bachelor’s degree or with an applied degree may also need to complete other courses to satisfy general education requirements before starting the BSN program.

English Language Requirements:
All applicants to the MNU nursing major whose native language is not English must demonstrate an established level of English language proficiency through the TOEFL iBT or IELTS exam. Refer to English Language Requirements policy in the catalog.
Application Process
- Complete online application on the MNU website
- Submit all official college or university transcripts. Note: foreign transcripts must be evaluated by an NACES agency before application deadline
- Complete the nursing questionnaire
- Pay tuition deposit and/or application fee
- Have a financial plan to pay for the program in place before courses start
Applications are reviewed on an ongoing basis until all available spots are filled.
BSN Program Prerequisites
All prerequisite courses must have a minimum grade of C- or better.
- Completion of General Education Requirements
- 3 hrs. Lifespan Development (options include: Lifespan, Human, and Child Development)
- 3 hrs. Intermediate Algebra (or proficiency)
- 3 hrs. Statistics
- 3 hrs. Human Nutrition
- 3 hrs. English Comp I (or proficiency)
- 3 hrs. Public Speaking (options include: Interpersonal and Strategic Communication)
- 5-8 hrs. Anatomy and Physiology*
- 4-7 hrs. Additional Life Sciences (Options include, but are not limited to: Biology, Genetics, Microbiology, and Chemistry)
*Combined Anatomy and Physiology Course: A 5- or 6-hour combined Anatomy and Physiology course may fulfill the above requirements, but students might need an additional Life Science course to reach the 12-hour science minimum. Nutrition courses are not included in the Life Science credit hours.
Clinical Requirements
Requirements prior to the beginning of any clinical course:
- Health/hospitalization insurance
- Documentation of immunization records
- Certified background checks and drug screenings
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Professionals Certification from the American Heart Association
