The School of Education offers an online distance learning program that results in a Master of Education degree in Instructional Specialist. A candidate for this program is typically an educator who intends to remain in a general education classroom or work as an instructional specialist/team leader in the school setting. The candidate will learn to teach diverse learners more effectively and move from theory to evidence-based practice. The Master of Education degree in Instructional Specialist offers five areas of emphasis to prepare professionals to become leaders in their content area, instructional coaches/strategists, and team leaders. Specific concentrations include Literacy, STEAM, Social Emotional Learning, Music Education, and General Studies.
Admissions
Complete Graduate Admission Application and submit official bachelor’s degree transcripts. Any additional transcripts from college credit accumulated after the bachelor’s degree MUST be submitted if you will be using these credits for transfer credit or for last 60 GPA.
Credit Transfer Policy:
- Transfer up to nine (9) semester hours of graduate credit from accredited institutions.
- Credits must have earned a grade of B or higher.
- Provide official transcripts and obtain approval from the advisor, program director, and Associate Dean.
- For foreign degrees, an evaluation from a NACES-member service is required.
Degree Plan:
Upon acceptance, students will work with an assigned advisor to develop and approve a personalized degree plan. Depending on the selected modules and individual progress, the program can be completed in as little as one year.
