CHEM 3012 - Organic Chemistry I Lab Credit Hours: 2
The organic chemistry lab sequence utilizes the REActivities curriculum. This first semester of the sequence focuses on training students to become well-versed and independent in the techniques commonly used by synthetic organic chemists, such as distillation, thin layer and column chromatography, liquid-liquid extraction, and recrystallization methods. NMR and IR spectroscopies will be covered. Heavy emphasis is placed on keeping a lab notebook, communicating results, and learning to write full scientific reports.
Corequisite: CHEM 3003 .
