EDUC 4703 - Literacy In The Secondary Classroom


Credit Hours: 3

In this course students will explore the inclusion of content driven literacy within a secondary classroom secondary reading. Candidates will explore subject matter content and multimedia texts as well as the knowledge of the nature of adolescents as readers. A study of reading procedures, teaching methods and instructional strategies to engage students in academic discipline content will be discussed. This course also explores integrating literacy/reading skills across and within content fields to enrich the curriculum, develop reading and thinking skills and make the teacher candidate aware of other literacies important to the 21st century classroom.

Prerequisite: Program admission required.
